Transport Minister rides public bus, inspects Puducherry ticketing office on ground-level review

PRESS RELEASE Hon'ble Minister for Transport Thiru A. Vijaya Thamizhan Parthiban travelled with members of the public on a government bus from Velachery to Kindy Race Course bus stop, and interacted with the driver and conductor there. He also inspected the Government Central Automobile Workshop Director's office at Velachery. On 22.05.2026, Hon'ble Minister for Transport Thiru A. Vijaya Thamizhan Parthiban boarded an MTC bus running from Velachery bus stop via Kindy Race Course bus stop, purchased a regular ticket, travelled with the public, and interacted directly with passengers, enquiring about the facilities provided for passengers on government buses and any difficulties encountered during travel. He assured that if any difficulties were reported, he would bring them to the immediate attention of the Hon'ble Chief Minister and have them resolved without delay. He also enquired with the driver and conductor of the bus about any difficulties they faced in their work. Following this, the Hon'ble Minister for Transport interacted with members of the public waiting for buses at the Kindy Race Course bus stop, enquiring whether buses were arriving on time and whether sufficient buses were being operated on the routes they needed. He said the views expressed by the public would be carefully considered and acted upon. He also interacted with the timekeeper, conductor and driver, and stated that he would look into any difficulties they faced in their work and take appropriate action. The Hon'ble Minister for Transport then visited the Government Central Automobile Workshop and the Director's office at Velachery, conducted an inspection, and interacted with the Director, officials and staff, enquiring about the functioning of the workshop. He discussed with the department secretary the requests made by the Director and staff regarding upgrading the workshop, and said he would bring the matter to the attention of the Hon'ble Chief Minister and take appropriate action.
