Press Release Hon'ble Transport Minister Thiru A. Vijay Thamizhan Parthiban takes action on complaints against the State Express Transport Corporation and the Villupuram City Transport Corporation. Following a complaint received by the passenger grievance redressal cell that a passenger travelling from Kilambakkam to Thanjavur on a State Express Transport Corporation bus [Bus No. TN01AN3178 (SLEEPER), Route: 323AC] on 24.05.2026 had lost their bag, the Transport Minister personally telephoned the complainant to obtain details. He then called the Managing Director of the Villupuram Division and directed him to take swift action. Upon inquiry, the Managing Director found that a fellow passenger on the bus may have mistakenly taken the passenger's bag instead of their own; this was conveyed to the complainant by phone. It was also conveyed that if the passenger who mistakenly took the bag returns it, it would be handed over to the rightful owner. Separately, a passenger complained that a Villupuram Government Transport Corporation bus travelling from Kudiyatham to Ambur did not stop at the Kakkathope bus stop at around 5 a.m. despite being signalled to stop. On inquiry by the Transport Minister, it was found that the Kudiyatham branch bus runs on the morning route via Ambur, and that the conductor and driver operating the bus were temporary staff [Route No. T5AA, Bus No. TN23N2862]. The Minister conveyed this information to the Deputy Manager (Operations), Vellore Region, and directed him to submit a detailed report. The Hon'ble Transport Minister visited the Villupuram depot, heard the grievances of the staff on duty there, posed for photographs with them saying he too works shoulder-to-shoulder with them, and checked the staff attendance register at the depot. He also inspected the new buses at the depot regarding the height of the boarding steps, a key demand raised by the public. He further honoured the Villupuram Managing Director with a garland and conveyed his good wishes for maintaining orderly and clean transport services in the Villupuram division.
