CM orders swift chargesheets, deterrent sentencing for crimes against women and children

Press Release Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru C. Joseph Vijay directs that those committing heinous crimes must have cases registered against them swiftly, investigated speedily, prosecuted, and awarded strict punishment. A review meeting was held today (25.05.2026) at the Secretariat, chaired by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru C. Joseph Vijay, with the Police Department, Social Welfare Department and the Advocate General, on crimes against women and children, expediting case proceedings, preventive measures and creating public awareness. The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu stressed that sexual offence cases must be conducted speedily so that offenders receive strict punishment. He stated that conducting cases properly and securing strict punishment should serve as a deterrent to those planning to commit such crimes. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Dr. Mu.
