In order to strengthen industrial infrastructure and promote balanced regional industrial growth, and as per the guidance of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, the Hon'ble Minister for Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce, Selvi S. Keerthana, today (26.05.2026) personally visited and reviewed the various works under way at the SIPCOT Industrial Park and Mega Food Park at Manapparai, Tiruchirappalli district.
Located on National Highway NH-83 connecting Tiruchirappalli and Dindigul, the Manapparai SIPCOT Industrial Park enjoys excellent transport connectivity via road, rail, air and port facilities. Spread over a total area of 1,097.36 acres, this industrial park has been developed to meet the needs of industries related to food processing and general engineering. Of the total area, 840.09 acres has been earmarked as land allottable to industries; of this, land has already been allotted to 30 industrial units. As part of environmental sustainability initiatives, about 17,800 saplings have been planted within the park.
The Minister also inspected and reviewed the industrial development works and infrastructure creation under way in the park and the investment opportunities available there, along with rainwater drains, drinking water supply systems, extensive road facilities, drinking water supply arrangements sourced from Cauvery water, overhead water storage tanks, LED street lights, and high-mast lighting facilities.
During the inspection, the Minister interacted with representatives of companies that have been allotted land in the SIPCOT Industrial Park in order to understand the industrial environment, assess the growth potential of the region, and address the requests raised by them.
During this interaction, the Minister took note of various infrastructure-related requests, including electricity and drinking water supply. She assured the company representatives that all necessary steps would be taken to resolve these requests at the earliest. Based on feedback received from industry representatives, the Minister also proposed new initiatives to train local youth in industry-relevant skills, in partnership with ITIs, polytechnic colleges, and other technical education institutions in the region, through an 'Industry-Education Institution Collaborative Initiative'.
Having reviewed the current status of women's participation in the industrial workforce, the Minister paid special attention to creating more employment opportunities for women, and directed officials to take steps, in partnership with industries, to conduct employment fairs and recruitment camps.
Accepting the request made by company representatives for improved bus-parking facilities and public transport connectivity within the industrial park, the Minister assured that the necessary infrastructure improvement works would be undertaken. Taking note of the delays faced by industries in obtaining various statutory approvals, the Minister directed concerned officials to expeditiously consider and dispose of service requests and approvals.
The Minister also reviewed sustainable development initiatives being implemented in the park, including solid waste management practices and greening measures.
The Minister once again reaffirmed the Tamil Nadu Government's commitment to creating world-class industrial infrastructure, attracting investments to tier-2 and tier-3 towns, generating large-scale employment, and strengthening the industrial ecosystem across the state.
