CM reviews legal strategy to defend 69% reservation ahead of Supreme Court hearing

Press Release Review meeting chaired by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru C. Joseph Vijay on taking appropriate legal steps to protect the 69 percent reservation in admissions to educational institutions and government employment in Tamil Nadu. A review meeting was held today (26.05.2026) at the Secretariat, chaired by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru C. Joseph Vijay, regarding the cases pending before the Hon'ble Supreme Court challenging the 69 percent reservation in admissions to educational institutions and government employment in Tamil Nadu. The 69 percent reservation in admissions to educational institutions and government employment in Tamil Nadu is currently in force. The cases filed before the Hon'ble Supreme Court against Tamil Nadu Act 45/1994 are due to come up for hearing on 27.05.2026. In this connection, the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu gave directions for swiftly taking appropriate legal measures to protect the existing 69 percent reservation.
