A zone-level meeting of the Forest Department was held, chaired by Hon'ble Forest Minister Thiru R.V. Ranjithkumar, in the presence of Smt. Supriya Sahu, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Environment, Climate Change and Forests. Today (27.05.2026), a zone-level review meeting on forest protection and development works being carried out by the Forest Department was held at the Forest Department Headquarters conference hall in Guindy, chaired by Hon'ble Forest Minister Thiru R.V. Ranjithkumar. At the meeting, discussions were held on protecting valuable timber species such as teak, sandalwood and rosewood, preventing wildlife trafficking and human-wildlife conflict, undertaking forest fire prevention measures, and expeditiously disbursing compensation for loss of life and crop damage caused by human-wildlife conflict. The Hon'ble Forest Minister requested all officials to work together effectively to steer the Forest Department onto a path of development. Smt. Supriya Sahu, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Environment, Climate Change and Forests, presided over the meeting. It was also attended by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Head of Forest Force) Thiru Sreenivas Ra. Chetty, IFS; Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief Wildlife Warden Thiru Rameshkumar Madogra, IFS; and other senior officials, all zonal officials of the Department, and divisional forest officers.
