The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru C. Joseph Vijay, met and spoke with the Hon'ble Union Finance Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, today (27.05.2026) at her office in New Delhi, as a courtesy call. During the meeting, the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu noted that Tamil Nadu continues to be a fast-growing state, and that since investment in major infrastructure projects is essential to further encourage such growth, priority funding should be allocated for ports, highways, railway projects and industrial corridors needed for Tamil Nadu's development. To further strengthen Tamil Nadu's robust educational ecosystem, the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu requested the Hon'ble Union Finance Minister to establish Institutes of National Importance in Tamil Nadu, and to allocate the funds necessary to implement metro rail projects to improve public transport in Hosur, Coimbatore and Madurai - cities that play a significant role in Tamil Nadu's economy and industrial growth.
