I was saddened and pained to learn that Thiru Harshavardhan (aged 18), son of Thiru Govindaraja, who was accidentally caught between the wheel of the temple chariot and an adjoining wall during the chariot festival of Arulmigu Ardhanareeswarar Temple at Tiruchengode, Namakkal district, at around 10.30 AM today (31.05.2026), sustained severe injuries, was given first-aid treatment at Tiruchengode Government Hospital, and was later taken to Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital, Salem, for further treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.
I have also directed that special treatment be provided to Thiru Vashtikan (aged 19), son of Thiru Gowrisankar, who was injured in this accident and is currently undergoing treatment in hospital.
I convey my deep condolences and sympathy to the family and relatives of the deceased, and have directed that a sum of Rs. 5 lakh be given to the family of the deceased from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund.
