Hon'ble Minister for School Education, Tamil Development, Information and Publicity Thiru Rajmohan today (02.06.2026) took part in the first convocation of the Chennai School of Journalism, held at the Tamil Virtual Academy Auditorium in Mettupuram, Chennai, and conferred diploma certificates on the students.
The main objective of the Chennai School of Journalism is to provide quality education at low cost in journalism and media studies to interested urban and rural youth. The institution was established with the aim of creating a leading educational institution for training, research and media education development in journalism, and to encourage young talent.
Orders have also been issued by the Government for conducting a one-year bilingual postgraduate diploma programme for the year 2025-2026. This diploma programme began in the first week of August 2025. Currently, 44 students are enrolled under this programme, of whom 39 students have successfully completed the course and are receiving diploma certificates.
Further, under the guidance of subject-matter experts, various subjects including the Constitution, economics, and data journalism are being taught. In addition, students are being given hands-on training using modern technologies used in today's print and visual media.
