MGR Film Institute extends BVA admission deadline to June 14

Government of Tamil Nadu M.G.R. Film and Television Institute (Affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Music and Fine Arts University), Chennai The Government of Tamil Nadu M.G.R. Film and Television Institute has, for more than 60 years, been the sole educational institution functioning under the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Government of Tamil Nadu. This institution is unique in producing highly skilled technicians and directors in the fields of cinema and television. Affiliated since the 2016-2017 academic year with the Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Music and Fine Arts University — the first such affiliation for film technology courses in India — the institute has been conducting a four-year degree programme in Bachelor of Visual Arts. For the academic year 2026-2027, applications for first-year admission to the degree courses in the streams listed below were to be received through the website (www.filminstitute.tn.gov.in) from 12.05.2026 to 5.00 PM on 02.06.2026. It is hereby notified that, for administrative reasons, this deadline has been extended to 5.00 PM on 14.06.2026. 1. Bachelor of Visual Arts (Cinematography) 2.
