On 03.06.2026 (today), a dedicated website for the Tamil Nadu Institute of Labour Studies (https://tils.tn.gov.in/) was launched for the first time by Hon'ble Minister for Labour Welfare and Skill Development Thiru Jaa. Mohammed Parvez at the Secretariat, Chennai.
The Tamil Nadu Institute of Labour Studies was established in 1973 and was subsequently registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, functioning as a society since 1988. The Hon'ble Minister for Labour Welfare and Skill Development of the Government of Tamil Nadu serves as Chairman of the Institute's Governing Board. The Government of Tamil Nadu provides an annual grant to meet the administrative expenses of the Institute.
The Institute conducts B.A. (undergraduate) and M.A. (postgraduate) degree programmes in Labour Management. Since 2001, the University of Madras has recognised the Institute as a research centre for full-time and part-time Ph.D. programmes. The Institute also conducts a one-year part-time (evening) Postgraduate Diploma in Labour Administration (PGDLA) and a one-year part-time (weekend — Saturday and Sunday) diploma programme in Labour Laws and Administrative Law for working professionals.
