Memorandum of Understanding Signed, in the Presence of Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru C. Joseph Vijay, for Larsen & Toubro (L&T) to Undertake Three Projects in Tamil Nadu with a Committed Investment of Rs.18,600 Crore, Creating Committed Employment for 8,200 Persons Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru C. Joseph Vijay today (4.6.2026) met and held discussions with Thiru S.N. Subrahmanyan, Chairman and Managing Director of Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T), one of India's largest engineering, construction, manufacturing and technology conglomerates, at the Secretariat. The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu appreciated the company for its continued investments and strong presence in the industrial sector in Tamil Nadu, and for coming forward to set up three new projects across various sectors in Tamil Nadu with a further investment of Rs.18,600 crore, creating employment for 8,200 persons. He also assured the company of the State Government's full cooperation and support for its future growth and expansion plans in Tamil Nadu. During the meeting, Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Tamil Nadu, in the presence of Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru C. Joseph Vijay, to undertake the following three projects in Tamil Nadu: 1. A data centre expansion project in Kanchipuram district with an investment of Rs.15,000 crore, creating employment for 500 persons. 2. An electronic products and electronic systems manufacturing project in Coimbatore with an investment of Rs.2,500 crore, creating employment for 2,000 persons. 3. An expansion project at the Kattupalli L&T Shipyard in Tiruvallur district with an investment of Rs.1,100 crore, creating employment for 5,700 persons. These multi-sector investments, which support the Hon'ble Chief Minister's ambitious goal of raising Tamil Nadu's economy to USD 1.5 trillion by 2036, will boost the growth of digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence operations in the State and improve the electronics manufacturing ecosystem. Further, the Kattupalli project will bring world-class infrastructure to the offshore wind-turbine fabrication industry. The implementation of these projects will create large-scale direct and indirect employment opportunities for the youth of Tamil Nadu, and will also boost the State's economy. It is noteworthy that this is the first Memorandum of Understanding in the industrial sector to be signed after the government led by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru C.
