PRESS RELEASE Tmt. P. Sumathi Appointed as First Woman Secretary of the Law Department Thiru. S. George Alexander, who served as Secretary to the Law Department for a period of three years, retired from government service on 31 May 2026 upon attaining the age of superannuation. Subsequent to his retirement, Tmt. P. Sumathi, Full-time Member Secretary of the State Law Commission, has been appointed as Secretary to the Law Department with effect from 2 June 2026. With this appointment, Tmt. P.
