As per the instructions of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, the Hon'ble Minister for Rural Development and Water Resources, Thiru N. Anand, today (03.06.2026) inspected various Rural Development and Panchayat scheme works being implemented in areas under Thiruporur Panchayat Union, Chengalpattu district.
He first visited the Thiruporur Panchayat Union office and inspected the files and registers maintained there. He then conducted a detailed review of the housing scheme, Jal Jeevan Mission, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, roads and bridges, minor irrigation tanks, CSR funding and SFC grant works, and the functioning of Self Help Groups and administrative activities. He subsequently personally inspected various important ongoing project works in Kalambakkam panchayat.
He inspected a nursery raising farm set up under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, where 10,000 saplings are currently being raised, and instructed officials to maintain them properly.
To meet rural energy needs, he enquired about the progress of biogas production works being set up at an estimated project cost of Rs. 50 lakh.
He then inspected plastic waste management project works being implemented at an estimated cost of Rs. 7.82 lakh, aimed at controlling plastic waste.
The Hon'ble Minister also carried out a detailed inspection of solid waste management project works being undertaken to keep the panchayat clean.
During the inspection, the Hon'ble Minister stated that all ongoing project works must be completed swiftly and with quality, without any delay. He said that new project works should be planned and implemented to improve the standard of living of ordinary people, and that, in order to realise the vision of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, officials must ensure that schemes are implemented with complete transparency and quality so that they benefit the public fully.
During the inspection, Chengalpattu District Collector Dr. M. Veerappan, IAS; Thiruporur MLA Thiru Vijayaraj; Chengalpattu District Revenue Officer Thiru M. Ganesh Kumar; Project Director Tmt. Sridevi; the Sub-Collector; and other senior officials were present.
