Food Minister Inspects TNCSC Head Office Renovation, Orders Farmer Helpline Check

PRESS RELEASE The Hon'ble Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Thiru P. Venkataramanan, today (03.07.2026) personally inspected the renovation works underway at the old headquarters building of the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC) at Keezhpakkam, Chennai. During the inspection, the Hon'ble Minister instructed the Chief Engineer to coordinate with the concerned officials, expedite the works, and take all necessary steps to complete them fully within the stipulated time frame. He noted that the accumulation of unnecessary old, unused items had made the environment unsuitable for work, and ordered the removal of unnecessary furniture and unused chairs from the premises where renovation works are underway. He stressed that officials and staff working in offices attached to the building under renovation must always keep their workspaces clean and properly maintained, and must continue to follow the necessary hygiene and maintenance practices to create a better office environment. The Hon'ble Minister then visited the TNCSC's Farmers' Help Centre and checked whether the toll-free number 1800 599 3540 and WhatsApp number 95008 02465, meant for farmers' use, were functioning properly. He also enquired with officials about the procedure for registering complaints related to paddy procurement and the Public Distribution System, the action taken on such complaints, and the redressal process. He further instructed that the above contact numbers be prominently displayed at TNCSC office premises across Tamil Nadu, as well as at all Direct Purchase Centres and paddy storage godowns across the State, so that the public can easily access them. Following this, he visited the CCTV control room from which the headquarters monitors the operations of TNCSC-owned regional godowns and modern rice mills. He directed officials to immediately repair faulty surveillance cameras installed at the godowns and modern rice mills and ensure that all cameras remain fully operational.
