As per the orders of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru C. Joseph Vijay, the Government of Tamil Nadu has ordered the release of water, not exceeding 20 million cubic feet (inclusive of conveyance losses), from the Thirumoorthy Dam to the Poovarinayakan Lake at Alamapalayam village, Udumalpet taluk, Tiruppur district, from 09.07.2026 to 11.07.2026, for the drinking water needs of the public and livestock. The water is to be released via the sluice at chainage 2.653 km on the Manuppatti branch canal, which branches off at chainage 5.130 km on the Udumalai canal, which in turn branches off at chainage 1.200 km on the Common Canal of the Thirumoorthy Dam, treating this as a sub-irrigation area under the Parambikulam Aliyar Irrigation Project complex.
