Agriculture Minister Launches "Extension Through Interaction" Farmer Q&A Scheme via Video Link

Vivekanand launched the "Extension through Interaction" scheme today (08.07.2026) at the Secretariat. Under this scheme, a State Level Expert Committee has been constituted to answer farmers' questions through video conferencing and provide solutions to their problems on a single platform. The committee comprises representatives of agriculture and allied departments, including the Department of Horticulture and Plantation Crops, Agricultural Marketing and Agri-Business, Agricultural Engineering Department, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, Fisheries, Sericulture, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, the Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai, and banking experts. Today, the State Level Expert Committee (SLEC) interacted via video conference with 25 farmers from each district and provided solutions to their problems. The event was webcast so that farmers across the state could benefit from it. The launch event was attended in person by Agriculture Production Commissioner and Secretary to Government Dr. Po. Sankar, IAS; Director of Agricultural Marketing and Agri-Business Thiru. Chandrasekhar Sagamoori, IAS; Director of Agriculture Dr. K.V. Muralidharan, IAS; Director of Horticulture and Plantation Crops Dr. S. Vijaya Rani, IAS; and Dr. P. Shankaralingam, Director, Samithi, while State Level Expert Committee members, district officials and farmers participated through video conferencing.
