Chief Minister Signs Three Key Government Orders After Taking Office

PRESS RELEASE After assuming office as Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. C. Joseph Vijay signed government order files to implement three key announcements. At the Cabinet swearing-in ceremony held today (10.5.2026) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai, the Hon'ble Governor of Tamil Nadu, Thiru Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, administered the oath of office and the oath of secrecy to Thiru. C. Joseph Vijay as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Following this, the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. C. Joseph Vijay, signed three key government order files in order to fulfil promises made in the election manifesto of the Tamilaga Vetrik Kazhagam. The details are as follows: (1) Households consuming up to 500 units of electricity over two months will be provided 200 units of free electricity for two months. (2) To build confidence among women and enhance women's safety, a "Special Women's Rapid Response Force" ("Singa Pen Sirappu Athiradi Padai") with adequate officers/personnel and state-of-the-art facilities will be set up across the entire state. This will ensure prompt action on complaints relating to women's safety. (3) In order to prevent narcotics-related crimes in Tamil Nadu and take stringent action, a total of 65 Anti-Narcotic Task Force police stations will be set up — one in each district (37 stations across all districts) and one each in the police districts of the 9 metropolitan cities (28 stations). ***************** Issued By: Director, Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Chennai-9
