Food Minister Meets Union Minister in Delhi, Seeks Cooperation on Paddy Procurement, PDS Funding

PRESS RELEASE Today (14.07.2026) in New Delhi, Hon'ble Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Thiru. P. Venkataramanan met with the Union Government's Hon'ble Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Thiru. Pralhad Joshi, and held detailed discussions on various key issues relating to the Food and Civil Supplies Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. During the discussion, various key issues were discussed in detail, including proposals pending approval by the Union Government, further strengthening of Tamil Nadu's Public Distribution System, procurement of paddy and food items, improving storage and distribution operations, schemes for the current year, allocation of food items required for the state, the outstanding amount to be paid to farmers for paddy procurement carried out by the National Cooperative Consumers' Federation, and areas requiring the cooperation of the Union Government. The Hon'ble Minister for Food and Civil Supplies presented the above requests and proposals to the Hon'ble Union Minister, and they were also submitted in writing. This meeting served as a useful consultation for improving the schemes currently being implemented in the Food and Public Distribution sector, and for securing the cooperation of the Union Government for future development schemes. The meeting was attended by Union Secretary for Food and Public Distribution Thiru.
