Co-optex, established in 1935, stands as one of the largest handloom weavers' cooperative organisations in India. It is a leading organisation that markets handloom products manufactured by weavers of various handloom weavers' cooperative societies functioning across Tamil Nadu, under the "Co-optex" brand, through 146 outlets across the country.
To expand Co-optex's business, boost sales, and attract the younger generation in greater numbers, the Co-optex "Pudupavu" outlet, covering approximately 1,600 square feet at the State Emporia Complex, C-1, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Connaught Place, New Delhi, has been fully modernised at a cost of Rs. 49.00 lakh.
In this context, on 13.07.2026, Hon'ble Minister for Handlooms, Textiles and Khadi, Government of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. M. Vijay Balaji, along with Hon'ble Minister for Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce, Government of Tamil Nadu, Selvi S. Keerthana, visited the modernised Co-optex "Pudupavu" outlet and reviewed the improvement facilities and sales arrangements undertaken there.
This outlet, modernised at a cost of Rs. 49.00 lakh, has been equipped with a modern interior design, high-quality lighting, improved display facilities, a modern shopping ambience suited to customers, and enhanced sales facilities.
Various premium handloom products are displayed for sale at this outlet, including Kanchipuram silk sarees, Coimbatore soft-silk sarees, Arani silk sarees, Salem silk sarees, cotton sarees, ready-made garments, bedspreads, towels, veshtis, ready-made shirts, modern indigo-blend garment sets, and modern men's kurta (block-print) sets.
