Joseph Vijay, at an event held today (14.7.2026) on behalf of the Department of Health and Family Welfare at Government Estate (Ripon Building/State College) campus in Chennai, launched the new "Nalam TN" website, set up to channel foundation and corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds towards the development of government hospitals through the Tamil Nadu Health Foundation. He also inaugurated medical buildings built at a cost of Rs. 139.47 crore, commissioned modern medical equipment for use, and presented appointment orders to 751 Assistant Surgeons and 1,393 Health Inspectors (Grade-II) selected by the Medical Services Recruitment Board. Launch of the "Nalam TN" Website With the objective of upgrading infrastructure and high-quality medical equipment for providing super-speciality treatment in all government hospitals across Tamil Nadu's 38 districts, the "Nalam TN" website has been developed under the framework of the Tamil Nadu Health Scheme, to receive donations from major industrial establishments, corporate CSR funds, charitable organisations, alumni of medical colleges, and individual donors, and to operate in a transparent and accountable manner. Through this website, donors can make their contributions directly, safely and with complete transparency, in a simplified manner. Vijek Parthipan, Vice-Chairman, of Caplin Point Laboratories Ltd., Chennai, presented a cheque for Rs. 1 crore from their company's CSR fund for the use of government medical colleges; Thiru. Krishnan Achaleswaran, Group Chief Financial Officer, and Thiru. V. Naveen, Chief Executive Officer of Apollo Hospitals, presented a cheque for Rs. 1 crore from the group's CSR fund; and Thiru. R. Prabhu, CSR Coordinator, and Thiru. Hariharan, Senior Manager, of Titan Engineering and Automation Ltd., Hosur, presented a cheque for Rs. 60 lakh from the company's CSR fund for building works at government hospitals, to the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Sathya of Chennai, who was admitted at Egmore Government Hospital for Women and Children two years ago and safely delivered a baby girl, donated Rs. 1,000 via QR Code towards the petty expenses of that hospital under the "Nalam TN" scheme, in the presence of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, as a token of gratitude for the loving and dedicated care given to her and her child by the hospital's doctors, nurses and medical staff. Commissioning of New Medical Buildings and Modern Equipment i. To strengthen the healthcare infrastructure in Tamil Nadu, four additional floors constructed above the second floor of the General Medicine block at Kilpauk Government Medical College Hospital, under the Directorate of Medical Education and Research, at a cost of Rs. 17 crore, comprising a 30-bed Intensive Care Unit, 180-bed general medical wards, nursing stations, doctors' rooms, examination rooms and other facilities; ii. A medical building built at a cost of Rs. 57.50 crore for Paramakudi Government Headquarters Hospital, Ramanathapuram District, under the Directorate of Medical and Rural Health Services; additional buildings and medical equipment built at Avudaiyarkoil Government Hospital, Pudukkottai District (Rs. 3.50 crore), Nilakkottai Government Hospital, Dindigul District (Rs. 3.50 crore), Vathalagundu Government Hospital (Rs. 3.50 crore), Pattiveeranpatti Government Hospital (Rs. 2.10 crore), and Kariapatti Government Hospital, Virudhunagar District (Rs. 3.50 crore); iii. 78 newly constructed Primary Health Centres and Sub-Health Centres, built at a cost of Rs. 45.50 crore across various districts, under the Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine; iv. Modern medical equipment worth Rs. 3.37 crore, procured through the Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation for the use of Paramakudi Government Headquarters Hospital, Ramanathapuram District; Thus, the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu commissioned new medical buildings and modern medical equipment built at a total cost of Rs. 139.47 crore. Presentation of Appointment Orders to Assistant Surgeons Under the Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine in Tamil Nadu, 1,832 Government Primary Health Centres and 345 Urban Government Primary Health Centres are functioning. Of these, 1,071 vacant posts of Assistant Surgeons were selected through the Medical Services Recruitment Board. Of these, appointment orders had already been issued to 320 Assistant Surgeons in the first phase. Counselling has since been conducted for the remaining 751 Assistant Surgeons in the second and third phases, and they have selected their posting locations. Accordingly, the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu today presented appointment orders to the 751 selected Assistant Surgeons.
