PRESS RELEASE Labour Welfare and Skill Development Department Employment and Training Department Hon'ble Minister for Labour Welfare and Skill Development Thiru J.A. Mohammed Parvez launched the counselling process for ITI students and issued admission orders. Training is provided to students through Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) so that youth acquire employable skills and industries continue to receive skilled manpower. Tamil Nadu currently has 132 government ITIs and 277 private ITIs in operation. These ITIs offer training in 70 engineering trades and 34 non-engineering trades. In particular, 71 government ITIs offer training in Industry 4.0 trades such as Robotics, Electric Vehicles, Digital Manufacturing and Advanced CNC, in line with the requirements of modern industries. Students who have passed 8th and 10th standard have been applying for admission to these ITIs since 16.05.2026. In keeping with the Government's objective of ensuring transparency in administration, the admission process for ITIs has been made fully computerised from this year. Under this new admission system, admission orders specifying the ITI and trade allotted based on the applicant's preference will be sent to their email address. At a function held at the Government ITI, Guindy, to launch this new admission system, the Hon'ble Minister for Labour Welfare and Skill Development Thiru J.A. Mohammed Parvez released the merit-based ranking list of applicants and issued admission orders to those selected under both the general priority category and seats reserved for women. He also distributed free textbooks, free drawing instruments, free uniforms and free footwear for the training. Simultaneously, admission details for ITIs across the State were sent to applicants via SMS and email. Selected students proceeded directly to their respective ITIs to complete admission formalities.
