Speaking at the event, the Minister said: "It gives me immense joy to see the smiling faces of students who have come here today to receive educational incentives for scoring high marks in the 10th and 12th standard State Board examinations. The incentive you students receive on this stage will bring your parents the same joy as if they had won a Nobel Prize. Teachers too will feel this joy. Teachers, like a sculptor carving a stone into a beautiful statue, shape students to reach great heights. Understanding this, students must respect their teachers and study diligently. Teachers must also be friendly with their students. Similarly, teachers should identify the subjects each student is interested in, encourage that interest, and nurture their education.
Dear teachers, I say this as your brother: just as you give importance to high-scoring students, you must equally encourage and teach students who learn at a slower pace, offering them encouraging words and positive feedback. Today, students who studied in Tamil Nadu's government schools are working as senior officials in multinational companies. Likewise, you students must also rise to great heights. However high you rise, never forget the school that sowed the seeds of your success, and always return to it as a special guest. I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, who nurtures students, teachers, parents and the public like a mother's embrace," he said.
The event was attended by Deputy Mayor Thiru Mu. Mahesh Kumar; Commissioner Dr. G.S. Sameeran, IAS; Joint Commissioner (Education) Smt. Ka. Karpagam, IAS; Standing Committee Chairman (Education) Thiru Tha. Viswanathan; Corporation Councillors; students; headmasters; teachers; and education officials.
