Announcement by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru C. Joseph Vijay
Near a Government Higher Secondary School on Karaikottai main road, Mannargudi taluk, Tiruvarur district, today (11.06.2026) at around 4.40 PM, an unidentified vehicle struck school students Yogeswaran (age 12), son of Murugesan; Rachit (age 12), son of Mukesh; and Rajamurali (age 12), son of Ramesh, who were returning home from school. The students sustained severe injuries; one student died at the scene, and the other two students died while being taken to the hospital. I was deeply saddened and grieved to hear this tragic news.
I have also ordered special medical treatment for Hridhik (age 11), son of Nagalraj, who sustained minor injuries in this accident and is currently under treatment.
I express my deepest condolences and sympathy to the parents and relatives of the three students who lost their lives in this accident. I have also ordered that Rs. 3 lakh each be given to the families of the deceased students, and Rs. 50,000 to the student who sustained minor injuries and is undergoing treatment in hospital, from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund.
