On the Chennai-Trichy National Highway, today (11.06.2026) at around 4.45 PM, near Siruthanur village, Ulundurpettai taluk, Kallakurichi district, five students on a two-wheeler were attempting to cross the road when an Omni van coming from Viluppuram towards Ulundurpettai and an auto-rickshaw collided with them. In this accident, two students - Justin (age 16), son of Krishnaraj, and Bruno (age 17), son of Lourdusamy - died at the scene. I was deeply saddened and grieved to hear this tragic news.
I have ordered special medical treatment for three students who sustained serious injuries in this accident and have been admitted to a government hospital: Alan (age 15), son of Lourdusamy; Sujith (age 16), son of Ayyappan; and Ajay (age 16), son of Jacqueline.
I express my deepest condolences and sympathy to the families and relatives of the students who lost their lives in this accident. I have also ordered that Rs. 3 lakh each be given to the families of the deceased students, and Rs. 1 lakh each to the three students who sustained serious injuries and are undergoing treatment in hospital, from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund.
