PRESS RELEASE As per the orders of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru C. Joseph Vijay, the Government of Tamil Nadu has ordered the release of water, from the Papanasam, Servalar and Manimuthar reservoirs into the Tamirabarani irrigation system, for direct and ayacut irrigated lands under 9 channels - the North Kodaimelazhagiyan Canal, Kannadiyan Canal, Kodagan Canal, Palayankal Canal, and Tirunelveli Canal in Tirunelveli district, and the Marudur Upper Canal, Marudur Lower Canal, South Canal and North Canal on the Tamirabarani river in Thoothukudi district - for the Kar season cultivation, for 121 days from 15.06.2026 to 13.10.2026, not exceeding 6,086.83 million cubic feet, subject to the water availability in the reservoirs.
