PRESS RELEASE Review meeting of the Rural Development and Panchayats Department As per the directions of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, a review meeting of the Rural Development and Panchayats Department was held today (15.06.2026), chaired by the Hon'ble Minister for Rural Development and Water Resources Thiru N. Anand. At the meeting, the activities of schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana - Gramin implemented under the Rural Housing Scheme, the Prime Minister's mega scheme for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups, the State Rural Housing Scheme, the Tsunami Houses Repair Scheme, the Chief Minister's Housing Reconstruction Scheme, and the scheme for constructing houses in rehabilitation camps for Sri Lankan Tamil refugees were reviewed, and the Minister directed that these schemes be completed swiftly in districts with lower performance. The current status of these schemes was also examined. The implementation of the new State Housing Scheme was also reviewed. The Minister also directed swift action to achieve targets under the renovation of 5,000 minor irrigation tanks in rural areas, the MLA Constituency Development Scheme, the Namakku Naame Scheme, the School Infrastructure Improvement Scheme, the Jal Jeevan Mission, the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural), and waste management. The Minister further advised the Department Secretary that, in the event of any complaints being received regarding the above schemes, proper inquiries be conducted and departmental action taken against concerned officials.
