PRESS RELEASE As per the orders of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, a Government Order has been issued delegating the authority to grant Planning Permission for High-Rise Buildings in the Chennai metropolitan area to the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA), in order to enable faster and simpler processing of planning permission for multi-storey buildings. Until now, planning permission for multi-storey buildings involved developers submitting applications, which were then field-verified and scrutinised, placed before the High-Rise Buildings Committee for consideration, and, based on the Committee's recommendation, submitted to the Government for approval before planning permission was granted. As per the orders of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru C. Joseph Vijay, in order to enable simpler and faster processing of planning permission for multi-storey buildings in the Chennai metropolitan area, avoid delays caused by the earlier procedure, reduce future delays for developers, and grant approvals in a shorter time, the Government has ordered that, subject to building rules and regulations and based on the recommendation of the High-Rise Buildings Committee, the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority itself may grant planning permission for multi-storey buildings.
