PRESS RELEASE Direct admission at Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) Tamil Nadu has 132 government ITIs and 277 private ITIs functioning under the Department of Employment and Training. With the counselling window for admission to the 2026-2027 academic year having closed on 13.06.2026, the window for direct admission at ITIs has been extended to 30.06.2026, keeping students' welfare in mind. In previous years, 95% of trainees who completed training at ITIs have secured employment in leading industrial establishments. The demand for skilled workers in factories continues to grow day by day. Because Tamil Nadu, in particular, has a large number of factories in India and hosts several multinational companies, ITI graduates enjoy good employment opportunities. Monthly salaries range from a minimum of Rs. 20,000 up to Rs. 30,000, depending on the student's skill level. Students who join ITIs after completing 8th or 10th standard can also obtain a 10th/12th standard equivalency certificate by passing Tamil and English as a private candidate while studying at the ITI. Students who complete ITI training can also join the second year of a diploma course at polytechnics, allowing them to continue their higher studies while earning. Government ITIs provide training in all trades required by today's industries, as well as several modern trades under Industry 4.0. There is no training fee for students admitted to ITIs. An educational stipend of Rs. 750 per month is provided. An additional Rs. 1,000 is given to students who studied in government schools under the Tamil Pudhalvan and Pudhumaipenn schemes. Free bicycles, free uniforms, free footwear, free training tools, and free bus travel facilities provided by the Government of Tamil Nadu are all made available. Hostel facilities are also available at specified government ITIs. Students are encouraged to make the most of this valuable opportunity by visiting their preferred ITI in person with their educational certificates, choosing the trade of their choice, and enrolling.
