Keerthana, Hon'ble Minister for Industries, Dr.S.Vijayakumar, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department, Dr. D. Karthikeyan, IAS, Chairman & Managing Director, TIDCO, for the landmark agreement signed between Government of Tamil Nadu and Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) on 11.6.2026 for the establishment of Space Vehicles – Common Technical Facility (CTF) at the upcoming Space Manufacturing Industrial Park at Allikulam, Thoothukudi District. The Agreement was signed by Dr. D.Karthikeyan, IAS, Chairman & Managing Director, TIDCO, on behalf of the Government of Tamil Nadu, and Thiru. Anupam Anand, IAS, Joint Secretary, IN-SPACe, on behalf of IN-SPACe, in the presence of Dr. V. Narayanan, Secretary, Department of Space, Chairman, Space Commission and Chairman, ISRO and Dr. Pawan Goenka, Chairman, IN-SPACe during the 10th IN-SPACe Industry Conclave held at Ahmedabad. The agreement marks a significant milestone in the State's efforts to create a world-class ecosystem for space manufacturing. Under the Agreement, IN-SPACe will provide equipment worth up to ₹100 crore for the CTF. The Government of Tamil Nadu will provide the necessary land and establish buildings, utilities and supporting infrastructure for the facility. The CTF will provide shared access to sophisticated testing and qualification infrastructure, including facilities for vibration, shock, thermal-vacuum, EMI/EMC, pressure and flow testing, launch vehicle assembly, component integration and hydroclave operations. Access to such capital-intensive infrastructure will significantly reduce the cost and time required for industries to develop, test and qualify space systems and components. Strategically located near the upcoming Spaceport at Kulasekarapattinam, the Space Manufacturing Industrial Park is envisioned as a hub for the manufacture of launch vehicle components, satellite systems, propulsion systems, avionics, composite structures and other critical space hardware. The Facility will serve as the technological backbone of this ecosystem and enable industries from across the country to access world-class capabilities. The initiative is expected to attract substantial private investment, generate high-skilled employment, strengthen the local supplier ecosystem and accelerate innovation in the space sector. By lowering entry barriers for industry, it will foster indigenous capability development and enhance India's competitiveness in the global space economy.
