Film Institute Extends Admission Deadline for Two BVA Courses

PRESS RELEASE Government of Tamil Nadu Department of Information and Public Relations Tamil Nadu Government M.G.R. Film and Television Training Institute (Affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Music and Fine Arts University) The Tamil Nadu Government M.G.R. Film and Television Training Institute is the only educational institution that has been functioning under the Department of Information and Public Relations, Government of Tamil Nadu, for over 60 years. This institute is a unique institution that has produced highly skilled technicians and directors in the field of film and television. Being the first of its kind in India for film technology education, the institute has, since the academic year 2016-2017, been affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Music and Fine Arts University to offer a four-year Bachelor of Visual Arts degree programme. For the academic year 2026-2027, applications for first-year admission to the degree programme across six subject streams were being accepted online via the website (www.filminstitute.tn.gov.in) from 12.05.2026 until 5.00 P.M. on 21.06.2026. Following this, it is hereby announced that, for administrative reasons, the last date for the two subject streams listed below alone has been extended until 5.00 P.M. on 27.06.2026. 1.
