Hon'ble Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru C. Joseph Vijay, at a function held today (24.6.2026) at Kalaivanar Arangam, Chennai, honoured a total of 401 persons — 383 Assistant Engineers (Electrical) and 18 Assistant Accounts Officers selected through the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission on behalf of the Energy Department — by presenting them with appointment orders.
During a review meeting on the Energy Department chaired by the Hon'ble Chief Minister, it was reported that one of the reasons for the problems prevailing in the Electricity Board is that more than 70,000 posts at various levels remain vacant.
Following this, the Hon'ble Chief Minister, with the objective of creating employment opportunities for youth and strengthening the human resources of the Energy Department so as to ensure uninterrupted and steady power supply, ordered that the necessary steps be taken to immediately appoint at least 15,000 personnel within a year. He further directed that appointment orders be issued without delay, in accordance with Board rules, to all 401 persons selected through the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.
Accordingly, the Hon'ble Chief Minister today presented appointment orders to 383 Assistant Engineers (Electrical) and 18 Assistant Accounts Officers selected through the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) for the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation (TNPDCL).
