As per the orders of Hon'ble Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru C. Joseph Vijay, the Government of Tamil Nadu has ordered the release of water, not exceeding 50 cubic feet per second, for 108 days from 16.07.2026 to 31.10.2026, for the Kar (autumn) season cultivation on 2,548.94 acres of direct and tail-end irrigation land served by Valliyoorankal, Padamalaiyarkal and Aathukkal, which receive irrigation under the Kodumidiyaru reservoir at Thirukurungudi village, Nanguneri Taluk, Tirunelveli District; and, subject to additional inflow into the reservoir, water is also to be released, together not exceeding 100 cubic feet per second, to cover an additional 3231.97 acres of land irrigated through Vadamalaiyankal.
2. As a result, 5,780.91 acres of land in Nanguneri and Radhapuram Taluks, Tirunelveli District, will receive irrigation facilities.
