PRESS RELEASE As per the orders of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru C. Joseph Vijay, the Government of Tamil Nadu has ordered that, to meet the acute drinking water requirement prevailing in Devanurputhur, Ramanapuram, Chellappampalayam (Udumalpet Taluk, Tiruppur District) and S.Nallur, Arthanaripalayam, Kambaletty and Thellippatti village panchayats (Pollachi Taluk — presently Anaimalai Taluk — Coimbatore District), water be released from the Saravanai Channel via the Nallaru into the Palar river to cater to more than 30 villages, through the sand-mound (regulator) located at 33.730 km on the Saravanai Channel, at the rate of 60 cusecs per second for the first 3 days (15.55 million cubic feet) followed by 50 cusecs per second for 2 days (8.65 million cubic feet), not exceeding a total of 24.20 million cubic feet (including transit losses), for meeting drinking water needs along the Palar river through the Nallaru, for a total of five days from 21.07.2026 to 26.07.2026.
