C. Joseph Vijay The government led by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. C. Joseph Vijay, has pledged to formulate and implement various welfare schemes for the people, placing the welfare of the people foremost. Government employees and teachers play a vital role both in the design of these schemes and in their full-scale implementation. Keeping their welfare in mind, and in view of the fact that the Dearness Allowance for Central Government employees has already been raised from 58% to 60% with effect from 01.01.2026, the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has, with kind consideration, ordered that the Dearness Allowance for State Government employees and teachers also be similarly enhanced with effect from 01.01.2026, so that they too benefit. As a result, the Dearness Allowance, currently at 58%, will be increased by 2 percentage points to 60% with effect from 01.01.2026. Approximately 16 lakh government employees, teachers, pensioners and family pensioners will benefit from this increase in Dearness Allowance. This will result in an additional annual expenditure of Rs.1,230 crore to the government.
