I was deeply saddened and anguished to learn of the tragic news that Thiru. Babith (aged 26), S/o. Thangaraja, from Sithambarapuram Yagobapuram, and Thiru. Vajithkumar (aged 25), S/o. Muthuraja, from Panagudi area, Sivagamipuram, and Thiru. Suvin (aged 24), S/o. Michael, from Azhagia Nambiapuram — all from Radhapuram taluk, Tirunelveli district — lost their lives in a fire accident that occurred on the night of 21.06.2026 at a factory in the Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar.
Efforts are underway, through the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and the Indian Embassy in Qatar, to bring the mortal remains of the deceased to Tamil Nadu at the earliest.
I have also directed the Hon'ble Minister for NRI Tamils' Welfare, Thiru. K. Thennarasu, to take prompt action in this regard.
I convey my deepest condolences and comfort to the families and relatives of the deceased, and I have ordered that a sum of Rs.10 lakh each be given to their families from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund.
