The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. C. Joseph Vijay, today (28.6.2026), on behalf of the Health and Family Welfare Department, administered polio drops to children and inaugurated the Special National Pulse Polio Camp at the Government Adi Dravidar Welfare Higher Secondary School, Saligramam, Chennai.
Comprehensive arrangements have been made to administer polio drops to 52.91 lakh children under the age of 5 at a total of 43,051 centres across Tamil Nadu, including all government primary health centres, government hospitals, Anganwadi centres, schools and other key locations.
On the days the camp is held, temporary centres (Transit Booths) will be set up at major bus stands, railway stations, toll plazas, checkposts and airports to administer polio drops.
Polio drop centres will function from 7.00 am to 5.00 pm. Polio drops will be administered at all camps on the first day, today (28.06.2026), and at temporary Transit Booths on 29.06.2026 and 30.06.2026. Polio drops will also be given to children of migrant workers from other States residing in Tamil Nadu at these camps. More than 2 lakh health workers, Anganwadi workers, teachers and volunteers have been deployed for this exercise.
