He was a great leader who not only built schools, but also created reservoirs and major industries, bringing about lasting change in the lives of the people of Tamil Nadu through agricultural and industrial development. Through his noble qualities — simplicity, honesty, sacrifice, vision and service to the people — he left an indelible mark on Indian politics, and dedicated his entire life to the welfare of the people.
