Press Release In accordance with the orders of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. C. Joseph Vijay, the Government of Tamil Nadu has directed that water be released from the Adavi Nayinar Kovil reservoir in Mekkarai village, Sengottai taluk, Tenkasi district, for the direct irrigation lands served by the Mettukkal, Karisalkalvai, Panbozhikalvai, Vallakulamkalvai, Ilathurkalvai, Nayinarkaramkalvai, Kilangadukalvai, Kambilikalvai, Pungankalvai and Vambavarvadakarai channels, at a rate not exceeding 60 cusecs per second, subject to a maximum of 268.43 million cubic feet, for a period of 95 days from 29.07.2026 to 31.10.2026, depending on water availability. 2. This will provide irrigation facilities to 2147.47 acres of land in Sengottai and Kadayanallur taluks of Tenkasi district.
