SPORTS DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF TAMIL NADU
FILLING UP OF THE POST OF NURSING ASSISTANT GRADE II IN TAMIL NADU MEDICAL SUBORDINATE SERVICE UNDER 3% RESERVATION SPORTS QUOTA.
Government of Tamil Nadu has been implementing various initiatives/schemes for the development of sports in Tamil Nadu. In order to encourage sportspersons from Tamil Nadu who have participated in Olympics and other International Level competitions and won medals, employment is being offered in Government Departments/Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) under 3% reservation as per Government order.
Hence, as per G.O. Ms. No.6, Youth Welfare and Sports Development (S1) Department, dated 20.02.2019, the following notification for employment in Government Departments/Public Sector Undertakings under 3% Reservation Sports Quota is being issued now.
Achievements in the following Competitions/Tournaments made during the last 5 years preceding the year of application only will be considered eligible for employment under this scheme. It is informed that the eligibility criteria for team sports are that the sportspersons must have participated in at least 50% of the games played in the State Level competition by the team in the respective tournament.
International Competitions (Medalist/Participants):
➢ Summer Olympic Games
➢ Commonwealth Games
➢ Asian Games
➢ World Championships conducted, either once in 4 years or once in 2 years or annually, by an International Sports Federation (ISF) recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
➢ Commonwealth Championships conducted, either once in 4 years or once in 2 years or annually, under the aegis of an ISF recognised by the IOC.
➢ Asian Championships conducted, either once in 4 years or once in 2 years or annually, under the aegis of an ISF recognised by the IOC.
➢ South Asian Federation Games (SAF Games).
➢ Paralympic Games.
➢ Asian Para Games.
➢ International Blind Sports Association (IBSA) World Games and Deaflympics organised by the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf.
National Level Competitions (Medalist Only):
➢ National Games.
➢ National Championships conducted by National Sports Federations recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
State Championships (Medalist Only):
➢ Conducted by State Sports Associations recognised by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT).
Among all levels of competitions, only senior-level competitions are eligible for consideration.
Based on the above guidelines, SDAT has invited online applications for filling up 31 vacancies for the post of Nursing Assistant Grade II in Tamil Nadu Medical Subordinate Service, Grade-II (Level of Pay-1, pre-revised Grade Pay below Rs.2,400/-), under the 3% Sports Quota. Vacancy details and other eligibility criteria have been framed by the Director of Medical Education and Research, Chennai.
Eligibility Criteria:
➢ The sportspersons should fulfil all the minimum educational qualification criteria prescribed for the post.
i) Must not have completed 32 years of age if recruited directly; provided that this age limit shall not apply to any person transferred from a local fund or Municipal Institution as a consequence of the transfer of such institution to the control of the State Government.
ii) Must possess the SSLC from a recognised school.
iii) Must possess a certificate of having successfully completed the training course for Nursing Assistants in a Government Medical Institution in the State. A person who has rendered war service as a Nursing Assistant, if appointed, shall pass the Departmental Examination for Nursing Assistant, failing which no increments will be granted.
The age limit for the post of Nursing Assistant Grade II in Tamil Nadu Medical Subordinate Service is as follows (age as on 01.07.2026):
For all categories: Minimum age 18 (completed); No maximum age limit for SC/ST/SCA/BC/BCM/MBC & DNC; Maximum 34 years for OC.
Differently Abled Persons: Minimum age 18; No maximum age limit for SC/ST/BC etc.; Maximum 44 years for OC.
Destitute Widows: Minimum age 18; No maximum age limit for any category.
(*As per G.O. Ms.No.91, Human Resource Management Department, dated 13.09.2021.) "No Maximum Age Limit" means that applicants should not have completed 60 years of age as on 01.07.2026, the date of Notification, or at the time of selection/appointment to the post.
