Joseph Vijay, the Government of Tamil Nadu signed several Memoranda of Understanding with leading global companies for Global Capability Centres, Research & Development (R&D) centres, a manufacturing project, and Tamil Nadu's first international university campus. In the presence of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. C. Joseph Vijay, at an event held today (30.7.2026) at Guidance Tamil Nadu's office in Nandanam, on behalf of the Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department, several Memoranda of Understanding were signed between Guidance Tamil Nadu and leading global companies. These investments, spanning Global Capability Centres (GCCs), R&D centres, manufacturing and higher education, are expected to create over 2,920 direct and indirect jobs in Tamil Nadu. Switzerland-based Chubb is setting up its Global Capability Centre, and Germany-based Nordex its R&D centre, in Tamil Nadu for the first time. Chubb's centre is expected to create 220 jobs, and Nordex's centre 1,000 jobs. Together, the investments of these two companies are expected to create a total of 1,220 high-quality jobs. These investments will further strengthen Chennai's position as a key global hub for high-value Global Capability Centres and research activities. These investments align with the Hon'ble Chief Minister's vision of promoting innovation-driven industrial growth, attracting knowledge-intensive investments, and creating high-quality employment for skilled human resources. Further, in the higher education sector, the University of Western Australia (UWA), one of Australia's leading research universities, will establish its campus in India in Chennai — the first international university campus in Tamil Nadu. Established in 1911, this university ranks 77th in the QS World University Rankings 2026. The university will be set up in Velachery, Chennai, at an investment of about Rs.125 crore, creating over 200 direct and indirect jobs. Following up on the Hon'ble Minister for Industries' visit to South Korea in June 2026, MotiveLink, a leading auto-components manufacturer from that country, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to set up a manufacturing facility at SIPCOT Pillaipakkam Industrial Estate, Kanchipuram district, at an investment of Rs.300 crore, creating 1,500 jobs. The Hon'ble Chief Minister stated that these investments will fulfil the aspirations of Tamil Nadu's youth and play a key role in establishing Tamil Nadu as a global hub for Global Capability Centres, R&D, higher education and advanced manufacturing. He further assured that the Government of Tamil Nadu would continue to extend all necessary support to facilitate these companies' investments and ensure their operations succeed in the State.
