With the counselling period for 2026-2027 admissions ending on 31.07.2026, in the interest of students, the deadline for direct admission at ITIs has been extended to 14.08.2026. In recent years, 95% of trainees who received training at ITIs have secured employment with leading industrial establishments. The demand for skilled labour in industries is growing day by day. Since India, and Tamil Nadu in particular, has a large number of industries and various multinational companies operating here, ITI-trained candidates receive good employment opportunities, earning monthly salaries ranging from a minimum of Rs.20,000 up to Rs.30,000 depending on their skill level. Students who join ITIs after completing Class 8 or Class 10 can also obtain a Class 10/Class 12 equivalent certificate by passing Tamil and English as private candidates while studying at the ITI. Students who pass out of ITIs can also join the second year of a Diploma course at Polytechnics, allowing them to continue higher studies while earning. Government ITIs provide training in all trade sections required by today's industries, and also offer training in several modern trade sections, including Industry 4.0. There is no training fee for students joining ITIs. An educational stipend of Rs.750 per month is provided. Students who studied in government schools receive an additional Rs.1,000 under the Tamil Pudhalvan and Pudhumai Penn schemes. The Tamil Nadu Government also provides free bicycles, free uniforms, free footwear, free training tools, and free bus passes. Hostel facilities are also available at select Government ITIs. Students are encouraged to make good use of this valuable opportunity by visiting the ITI of their choice in person with their educational certificates, selecting their preferred trade, and enrolling.
