A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding was signed in the presence of Hon'ble Minister for Labour Welfare Thiru Dr. Mohamed Parvez to send industrial training graduates to Japan for employment.
At present, 132 Government Industrial Training Institutes and 277 private Industrial Training Institutes are functioning in Tamil Nadu. Training is provided in traditional trades such as Fitter, Electrician, A.C. Mechanic, Welder and Computer at Government ITIs, as well as in modern Industry 4.0 trades such as Advanced CNC, Robotics and Electric Vehicles.
In the 2026 academic year, of the seats allotted in 132 Government ITIs, 80 percent have been filled so far. Direct admission will continue until 31.08.2026. Of the students trained last year, 95 percent were placed in leading domestic organisations.
As per the guidance of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, as a first step towards enabling youth to secure employment at the international level, a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding was signed today (07.08.2026) at the Secretariat, in the presence of Hon'ble Minister for Labour Welfare and Skill Development Thiru Dr. Mohamed Parvez, between the Department of Employment and Training, the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation, and Ehime-Nissan, Japan, to provide special technical training to students trained in automobile trades at Tamil Nadu's Government ITIs and place them as automobile service technicians with Ehime-Nissan in Japan. Under this arrangement, six months of Japanese language training, technical training, and travel expenses for the trainee ITI graduates will be borne by Ehime-Nissan. After reaching Japan, language training costs, document preparation assistance, medical examination fees and visa fees will all be borne by the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation.
The event was attended by Secretary to Government, Labour Welfare and Skill Development Department, Thiru Ko. Veera Raghava Rao, IAS, Director of Employment and Training Dr. C. Palani, IAS, Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation Thiru Simranjeet Singh Kahlon, IAS, Ehime-Nissan representative Thiru Chellappa Sriram, and other senior officials of the department.
