Revenue Augmentation Committee - Invites views and suggestions to improve the State's revenues
The Government of Tamil Nadu have constituted the Revenue Augmentation Committee under the chairpersonship of Thiru Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Economist, former Deputy Chairman of the erstwhile Union Planning Commission and former Member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister.
2. The Committee, at its first meeting held on 31st July 2026, has resolved to invite views and suggestions from the general public, associations, academicians, research scholars and institutions engaged in the field of public finance.
3. Accordingly, views and suggestions are invited with reference to the measures to augment the State's Own Tax and Non-Tax revenues, and to improve revenue buoyancy, efficiency and self-reliance.
4. Views and suggestions on any other matter relevant to the State's revenues are also welcome.
5. The views and suggestions may be sent by e-mail to [email protected], so as to reach the Committee, preferably before 11th August 2026. The views may be sent in English or Tamil, or both.
6. Senders are requested to indicate, in the subject line of the e-mail, the broad category to which the suggestion relates, such as GST, Stamp Duty and Registration, State Excise, Motor Vehicle Tax, Mining, Non-Tax Revenue, or General, so as to facilitate categorisation and follow-up.
