Hon'ble Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru S. Joseph Vijay inaugurated academic buildings built at a cost of Rs.274.46 crore on behalf of the Higher Education Department
Hon'ble Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru S. Joseph Vijay, at the Secretariat today (4.8.2026), on behalf of the Higher Education Department, inaugurated various buildings — including classroom blocks, laboratory blocks, workshop blocks, workshops for skill development centres, libraries, e-libraries, and Artificial Intelligence and Data Science buildings — built at a cost of Rs.274 crore 46 lakh at Government Polytechnic Colleges, Government Arts and Science Colleges, Government Engineering Colleges and Thiruvallur University.

At Government Polytechnic Colleges located at Chennai district – Taramani; Chengalpattu district – Chengalpattu and Kurampet; Tiruvallur district – Sevvaipettai; Kallakurichi district – Vangarapuram; Dharmapuri district – Bommidiahalli and Palacode; Krishnagiri district – Gowmangalam, Bargur and Uthangarai; Tiruvannamalai district – Nagapattu; The Nilgiris district – Udhagamandalam; Erode district – Perundurai; Tiruchirappalli district – Tiruchirappalli and Srirangam; Namakkal district – Kolanur; Pudukkottai district – Santhaverkottai and Aranthangi; Thanjavur district – Raghunathapuram; Tiruvarur district – Valangaiman; Sivagangai district – Sivagangai and Karaikudi; Theni district – Kottur and Andipatti; Madurai district – Madurai, Ambasamudram, Ambalakaranpatti and Usilampatti; Kanniyakumari district – Nagercoil; Thoothukudi district – Thoothukudi and Ettayapuram; Vellore district – Madhanur; Cuddalore district – Cuddalore and Virudhachalam; Ramanathapuram district – Paramakudi; and at Coimbatore, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Karur, Nagercoil and Tiruppur — classroom blocks, laboratory blocks, workshop blocks, workshops for skill development centres, library, e-library, and Artificial Intelligence and Data Science buildings, at a cost of Rs.226 crore 98 lakh;
At Vellore and Erode Government Engineering Colleges, additional classrooms, laboratories and library buildings at a cost of Rs.6 crore 8 lakh;
At Government Arts and Science Colleges at Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruppur, Sivagangai, Vellore district-Madhanur, Cuddalore district-Cuddalore and Virudhachalam, Ramanathapuram district-Paramakudi, and Kanniyakumari district-Nagercoil, classrooms, laboratories and e-library buildings at a cost of Rs.35 crore 40 lakh;
At Thiruvallur University, Vellore district, classroom buildings for three departments — Sociology, Environmental Science and Microbiology — at a cost of Rs.6 crore;
Thus, a total of 51 buildings related to the Higher Education Department, built at a total cost of Rs.274.46 crore, were inaugurated by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
The event was attended by Hon'ble Minister for Rural Development and Water Resources Thiru N. Anand, Hon'ble Minister for Public Works and Sports Development Thiru Aadhav Arjuna, Hon'ble Minister for Higher Education Thiru Po. Viswanathan, Chief Secretary Dr. M.
