Joseph Vijay inaugurated 4 completed scheme works costing Rs.112.85 crore and laid the foundation stone for 4 new scheme works estimated at Rs.710.50 crore, on behalf of the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department Hon'ble Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru S. Joseph Vijay, at the Secretariat today (4.8.2026), through video conference, on behalf of the Directorate of Municipal Administration of the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department, inaugurated 4 completed scheme works costing Rs.112.85 crore and laid the foundation stone for 4 new scheme works estimated at Rs.710.50 crore. Details of the completed works inaugurated To improve transport facilities in Tiruppur city, strengthen connectivity between the northern and southern parts of Tiruppur, and avoid traffic disruptions caused by flooding during the monsoon, an elevated bridge across the Noyyal river connecting Sri Sakthi Theatre Road and Union Mill Road on Eastern Kovil Street within Ward 44 of Tiruppur Corporation has been constructed at a cost of Rs.18 crore under the Infrastructure and Development Fund. The 15 wards of Perundurai Municipality are being supplied with 73 litres per capita per day (LPCD) of treated drinking water. As the existing drinking water distribution pipelines were laid about 40 years ago and are all in a damaged condition with frequent bursts, drinking water development works have been completed at a cost of Rs.22.65 crore under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme to provide equitable drinking water supply to the residents of this area. Further, a new overhead water storage tank of 1.5 lakh litre capacity at Ellaikamedu, along with 117.26 km of distribution pipelines and 2.010 km of main pipelines, has been completed. Through this scheme, drinking water connections will be provided to 10,080 houses, ensuring equitable drinking water supply throughout the town. The 21 wards of Mahottakiri Municipality are being supplied with 70 LPCD of treated drinking water. Drinking water development works have been completed at a cost of Rs.42.69 crore under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme. Works completed include laying 11.40 km of feeder main pipelines and 48.64 km of distribution main pipelines from the Erode barrage, constructing 6 ground-level reservoirs and a retaining wall, and road restoration works over 40 km. Through this scheme, 3,596 house drinking water connections will be provided, enabling supply of 100 LPCD to all households. The residents of Vikramasingapuram Municipality, comprising 21 wards, are being supplied with 95 LPCD of treated drinking water. Drinking water development works have been completed at a cost of Rs.29.51 crore under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme. Works completed under this scheme include a ground-level intake station, a water treatment plant of 4 MLD capacity at Pothigaiyadi, 81.748 km of distribution pipelines, 6.252 km of feeder main pipelines, a total of 3 overhead reservoirs, and 12,890 house drinking water connections. With completion of this scheme, all households will now receive 135 LPCD of drinking water. The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu inaugurated, for public use, a total of 4 completed works costing Rs.112 crore 85 lakh, on behalf of the Directorate of Municipal Administration. Details of new scheme works for which the foundation stone was laid At Dindigul Corporation, a new bus stand with modern facilities, estimated at Rs.74.89 crore with financial assistance from German Bank (KfW), is to be constructed. This new bus stand will provide parking for 60 buses at a time, 81 commercial shops, 2 restaurants, two-wheeler parking, a compound wall, 5 toilet blocks, CCTV surveillance, a solar power system, rainwater harvesting system, sewage treatment and water reuse facility, and a green park, among various other modern amenities. In areas under Karur Corporation, drinking water scheme works estimated at Rs.245.07 crore, with financial assistance from German Bank (KfW), are to be undertaken. This scheme includes construction of 2 infiltration wells to draw an additional 26.83 MLD of drinking water from the Cauvery river, 3 new overhead reservoirs, replacement of 10 old overhead reservoirs, 2 ground-level reservoirs, and laying of drinking water distribution pipelines over 126 km. Under the Comprehensive Protected Water Supply Scheme in Tiruverkadu Municipality, estimated at Rs.165.48 crore with financial assistance from German Bank (KfW), works to supply protected drinking water to the public are to be implemented. Drinking water will be drawn from the Chembarambakkam Lake source through the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply Board, providing 135 LPCD, totalling 16.34 MLD of protected drinking water per day. Through this, 98,499 people will benefit, and 23,368 house drinking water connections will be provided. A total of 12 new overhead reservoirs with a combined capacity of 91.50 lakh litres are to be constructed. This scheme work is planned to be completed within 2 years and brought into public use. At Manghadu Municipality, an underground sewerage scheme, estimated at Rs.225.06 crore with financial assistance from German Bank (KfW), is to be implemented to improve public health and establish modern sewage management facilities. Through this scheme, 20,258 house sewer connections will be provided, benefiting 68,700 people. Works under this scheme include laying 84.19 km of distribution sewer pipelines and 5.52 km of main sewer pipelines, and constructing 3,667 manholes, 3 sewage pumping stations, and 3 sewage lift stations. The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu laid the foundation stone for 4 new scheme works estimated at a total of Rs.710 crore 50 lakh, on behalf of the Directorate of Municipal Administration.
