PRESS RELEASE Condolence and financial assistance to the families of those who lost their lives and those injured in the LPG cylinder burst accident at Thanjavur district Announcement by Hon'ble Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru S. Joseph Vijay I was deeply saddened and pained to learn that on 30.07.2026 morning, at the house of Thiru Murugaiyan S/o Chinnaiyan in Chinna Ammangudi village, Thiruvonam taluk, Thanjavur district, the thatched roof of the kitchen shed caught fire, causing the LPG cylinder inside the house to explode unexpectedly. In this accident, Thiru Palanivel (aged 36) S/o Appurasu, Thiru Kasinathan (aged 39) S/o Veeraraayan, and Thiru Vembaiyan (aged 52) S/o Veeraraayan, who sustained severe burn injuries, were admitted to Thanjavur Government Medical College Hospital but succumbed to their injuries despite treatment. I have ordered special treatment for five persons who sustained severe burn injuries in this accident and are undergoing treatment at Thanjavur Government Medical College Hospital — Thiru Rajasekar (aged 32) S/o Selvarasu, Tmt. Selvi (aged 41) D/o Murugeyan, Selvi Abhinaya (aged 15) D/o Murugeyan, Tmt. Kalaiarasi (aged 39) D/o Vembaiyan, and Selvan Buvanesh (aged 16) S/o Ramesh — as well as for Thiru Selvarasu (aged 64) S/o Chinnaiyan, who sustained minor burn injuries and is also undergoing treatment. I convey my deep condolences and sympathy to the families and relatives of the three persons who lost their lives in this accident. I have also ordered that Rs.3 lakh each be paid to the families of the deceased, Rs.1 lakh each to the persons undergoing treatment for severe burn injuries, and Rs.50,000 to the person undergoing treatment for minor burn injuries, from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund. •••••••••• Released by: Director, Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Chennai-9
