CM Joseph Vijay presides over Vetri Tamil Nadu investors meet, MoUs worth Rs 67,452 crore signed

PRESS RELEASE Investments Exceeding Rs.1 Lakh Crore Attracted Within 100 Days of the Government Taking Charge At the Vetri Tamil Nadu Investors Conclave held in Chennai, in the presence of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru C. Joseph Vijay, 97 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed committing an investment of Rs.67,452 crore and creating 1,06,998 jobs; Foundation stones were laid for 8 projects worth an investment of Rs.4,476 crore, creating 5,074 jobs; 5 projects worth an investment of Rs.2,676 crore, creating 1,550 jobs, were inaugurated; 2 projects and 13 new buildings of SIPCOT, TIDCO, Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited, and Tamil Nadu Industrial Workers Housing, worth Rs.777.74 crore, were opened; and Appointment orders were issued to 20 persons selected for various positions in 9 companies. At the Vetri Tamil Nadu Investors Conclave held today (13.8.2026) in Chennai, in the presence of the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru C. Joseph Vijay, on behalf of the Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department, 97 MoUs were signed committing an investment of Rs.67,452 crore and creating 1,06,998 jobs. It is noteworthy that industrial investments exceeding Rs.1 lakh crore have been attracted within 100 days of this government taking charge. Further, in the areas of trade, commerce, cross-investments and disaster relief coordination, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, and semiconductor skill development training and technology transfer, Tamil Nadu has signed 7 institutional MoUs with companies and organisations from Kazakhstan, New Zealand, and Russia. The Hon'ble Chief Minister inaugurated the Rs.350 crore tissue paper commercial production unit of Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited at Manachanallur, Tiruchirappalli district; the Rs.250 crore Aerospace Park of the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) at Vallam Vadagal Industrial Park, Kanchipuram district; 11 new buildings worth Rs.122.08 crore at SIPCOT industrial parks; and 2 new buildings worth Rs.55.66 crore under Tamil Nadu Industrial Workers Housing Private Limited — together, completed projects worth a total of Rs.777.74 crore. He further laid foundation stones for 8 projects worth Rs.4,476 crore in investment, creating 5,074 jobs, and thereafter inaugurated 5 projects worth Rs.2,676 crore in investment, creating 1,550 jobs. Following this, he also issued appointment orders to 20 persons selected for various positions across 9 companies. Memoranda of Understanding On behalf of the Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department, 97 MoUs were signed in the presence of the Hon'ble Chief Minister, committing an investment of Rs.67,452 crore and creating 1,06,998 jobs. A notable feature is that 55 of these projects are new (Greenfield) projects, while 50 are expansion projects (Brownfield) of companies already in operation. Over Rs.1 lakh crore in investments within 100 days: Through the MoUs signed prior to this conclave, combined with the MoUs signed today at the "Vetri Tamil Nadu Investors Conclave", investments exceeding Rs.1 lakh crore (Rs.1,02,514 crore) have been attracted within 100 days of the government taking charge, securing 1,21,788 jobs. Details of some of the key projects for which MoUs were signed today: SkyRoot Aerospace: SkyRoot Aerospace, India's first private orbital launch vehicle manufacturer, will set up facilities in Thoothukudi for the production, storage, integration and testing of launch vehicles, with an investment of Rs.250 crore, creating 500 jobs. Agnikul Cosmos: Agnikul Cosmos, India's first private manufacturer of reusable semi-cryogenic rocket engine launch vehicles, will set up integration and manufacturing facilities for such launch vehicles in Thoothukudi, with an investment of Rs.400 crore, creating 1,500 jobs. Ultraviolette: Ultraviolette will set up an OEM manufacturing facility for electric two-wheelers in Krishnagiri, with an investment of Rs.779 crore, creating 4,000 jobs. Supermicro: Supermicro, a Fortune 500 (ranked 292) company from the United States, will set up a server manufacturing and integration facility in Chennai, with an investment of Rs.477 crore, creating 150 jobs. YKK, Japan: Japan-based YKK will set up a manufacturing unit for zippers and fastening products in Tiruvallur. YKK, the world's largest manufacturer of zippers and fastening products, will invest Rs.1,651 crore, creating 4,316 jobs. Raeli Engineering Plastics: Raeli Engineering Plastics will set up a manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu for components used in consumer electronics. This will be the company's first investment outside Korea, with an investment of Rs.500 crore, creating 400 jobs. Avid Group: Avid Group of Australia has come forward to invest in Tamil Nadu over the next five years across sectors including urban infrastructure, tourism, healthcare, and construction equipment manufacturing. In the first phase, the group will invest Rs.7,000 crore, creating 12,000 direct and indirect jobs, in Tiruvallur and Thoothukudi districts. BITZER, Germany: BITZER, the world's leading manufacturer of HVAC compressors from Germany, is setting up its first HVAC compressor manufacturing facility in India, in Kanchipuram, with an investment of about Rs.300 crore. JK Tyre: JK Tyre will expand its tyre manufacturing project in Kanchipuram district, with an investment of Rs.5,143 crore, creating 3,510 jobs. Daimler, Germany: Germany-based Daimler, which currently manufactures commercial vehicles at the SIPCOT Oragadam Industrial Park in Kanchipuram district, will upgrade its 400-acre manufacturing and research facility at Oragadam for the design, research & development, and manufacturing of commercial vehicles, with an investment of Rs.4,000 crore, creating 400 jobs. The above MoUs will be implemented across the districts of Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Dindigul, Cuddalore, Chennai, Thoothukudi, Sivaganga, Krishnagiri, Chengalpattu, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Ranipet, Vellore, Coimbatore, Ramanathapuram, Erode, Karur, Namakkal, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruppur, Pudukkottai, Tiruchirappalli, and Nagapattinam. Notably, this will be the first time an industrial project is being started in Ramanathapuram district. Further, these MoUs span sectors including biotechnology, automobile manufacturing, electronics and semiconductors, deep-tech, consumer electronics, space and defence, maritime industries, and renewable energy. Institutional Memoranda of Understanding Further, in the areas of trade, commerce and cross-investments, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, and semiconductor skill development training and technology transfer, Tamil Nadu has entered into 7 institutional MoUs with companies and organisations from Kazakhstan, New Zealand, and Russia. Details are as follows: • Invest Kazakhstan will bring a 100-member trade delegation to Tamil Nadu in September 2026 with the aim of promoting bilateral trade and investment. • INZBC, New Zealand, will bring a delegation led by the Mayor of Christchurch to Tamil Nadu in October 2026. • Guidance Tamil Nadu has signed a 3-year MoU with the Idea to Impact Foundation to implement a Walmart expansion project in Tamil Nadu. This will create opportunities for Tamil Nadu's industries in modern trade, e-commerce, and global supply chains. In the first phase, across 9 districts, the skills of local manufacturers will be enhanced and their products connected to national and international markets. These activities will be carried out in the districts of Chennai, Coimbatore, Kanchipuram, Madurai, Salem, Thoothukudi, Tiruppur, Tiruvallur, and Vellore. • TIDCO, in partnership with Bosch Global Software Technologies, will establish a Centre of Excellence for cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and advanced technologies. This will create employment for 10,000 students and technology professionals, support over 500 startups and MSMEs, and generate over 100 high-skilled jobs. • WOWsemi plans to set up a Semiconductor Skilling Academy in Coimbatore. It will invest Rs.75 crore over the next 2 years to establish a Wafer on Wheels facility, an experience centre, and a skill development training centre. Through this, more than 75,000 people will be trained over the next 5 years, with at least 15,000 receiving certification. • Sberbank, Russia: Sberbank, Russia's leading bank, has signed an MoU with the Government of Tamil Nadu to collaborate in the fields of education, healthcare, urban development, and technology transfer. This will pave the way for new opportunities in Tamil Nadu–Russia economic and investment cooperation. As this marks the first tissue paper manufacturing business in South India, premium tissue papers will be marketed under the brand 'Lumina' in four varieties — facial, napkin, towel, and toilet use — using global technology. This will boost industrial growth and improve livelihoods in the region. On behalf of the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), a world-class Aerospace Park was opened at Vallam Vadagal Industrial Park, Kanchipuram district, at a cost of Rs.250 crore. This park will host key activities of the aerospace and defence sector, including engineering design, avionics manufacturing and repair, advanced prototyping, and defence technology development. The park spans 3,04,000 sq. ft across eight floors, with complete infrastructure facilities. On behalf of SIPCOT, 11 new buildings were opened: an administrative office building of 1,00,320 sq. ft across three floors at a cost of Rs.26 crore; two Flex & Flora buildings spanning 2,36,504 sq. ft at a cost of Rs.51.8 crore; a canteen complex with dining facilities of 22,519 sq. ft at a cost of Rs.8.60 crore; a crèche building of 6,563 sq. ft at a cost of Rs.2.60 crore for the welfare of working mothers; a medical centre building of 6,049 sq. ft at a cost of Rs.2.50 crore; a customs office and security cabin of 1,442 sq. ft at a cost of Rs.90 lakh; and an elegant entrance arch at a cost of Rs.2.45 crore. Further, a skill development centre building at the Government Industrial Training Institute, Madurai Ko. Puthur, was opened at a cost of Rs.1.65 crore, and a food court for workers' use at Vallam Vadagal, Kanchipuram district, was opened at a cost of Rs.19 crore. To meet the accommodation needs of workers employed in factories, a women workers' hostel building was opened in Thoothukudi at a cost of Rs.6.58 crore. Jointly through SIPCOT and TNIFMC, under Tamil Nadu Industrial Workers Housing Private Limited (TNIHPL), a men's hostel accommodating 441 persons was opened at Seiyaru, Tiruvannamalai district, at a cost of Rs.15.77 crore, and a women workers' hostel with modern facilities across three floors, accommodating 870 women workers, was opened at Gangaikondan, Tirunelveli district, at a cost of Rs.39.89 crore. Issuance of Appointment Orders The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu today issued appointment orders to 20 persons selected for various positions across 9 industrial companies — Celpras, Baxter, ZF, HD Sable, Green Signal, HL Mando, Daimler, Velmurugan Heavy Engineering, and Zeppanix.
