Minister Anand Directs Water Resources Dept to Expedite Projects, Boost Women's Participation

PRESS RELEASE Under the chairmanship of Hon'ble Minister for Rural Development and Water Resources Thiru N. Anand, a review meeting with engineers of the Water Resources Department was held at the Secretariat today, 18.05.2026. The Secretary of the Water Resources Department briefed the Minister on the department and its ongoing works. Chief Engineers explained the key works being carried out in their respective zones. At the review meeting, the Hon'ble Minister for Water Resources reviewed the progress of ongoing works and instructed officials to complete all works swiftly and bring them into public use. He further directed that priority be given to schemes beneficial to the public, and that officials identify and propose new works related to such schemes. He also instructed that women's participation be enhanced in project works undertaken by the department. The review meeting was attended by Water Resources Department Secretary Thiru Se. Jayakanthan, IAS, Special Secretary Thiru Su. Sridharan, Water Resources Department Engineer-in-Chief and Chief Engineer (General) Thiru Su. Mahabalakrishnan, and all Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers and senior officials of the Water Resources Department.
