Press Release No : 542 Date: 14.08.2026 PRESS RELEASE Today (14.08.2026), the Hon'ble Minister for Food and Civil Supplies conducted a surprise inspection at the Amudham Departmental Store operating in the Ramapuram – Manapakkam area of Chennai. During this inspection, the stock level, quality, proper maintenance of commodities stored in the store, and the distribution procedures followed for the general public were inspected in person. Furthermore, the cleanliness of the store, proper stacking and arrangement of goods, and the uninterrupted availability of essential commodities required by the general public were closely reviewed. He instructed that it must be ensured that commodities provided to the public are of proper weight and good quality, and that sales receipts must compulsorily be issued at the time of providing goods. It was conveyed that prioritising public welfare, the stock and sale of commodities will be monitored continuously, and appropriate action will be taken if deficiencies are detected.
